IOVANNA, Elena (Guarino) In East Boston, formerly of Boston's North End, April 16, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Michele Iovanna. Loving mother of Anna Andreattola and her late husband Louis.
Cherished grandmother of Renee McGlew and her husband James and Rena Andreattola and her partner Melissa Rennie. Great-grandmother of Brendan, Brett, Bianca and Briana McGlew.
Sister of Guido Guarino and the late Delfina Federico, Giuseppe Guarino, Caterina Bruno, Maria Bruno and Ernesto Guarino. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by her fur grandbabies; Chloe, Niko, Baci and Cali.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in the Magrath Funeral Home, 336 Chelsea St. [at Day Sq] EAST BOSTON on Wednesday morning, April 23, 9:15 - 11:15 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church at 12 o'clock.
Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Roslindale.
Elena was born in Mirabella, Eclano Avellino, Italy and came to the United States in 1946 settled in the North End where she raised her family and made her life. For 17 years she was a teacher's aide cook at St. Anthony's School, eventually moving to East Boston with her daughter's family, where she lived until her death.
Donations in her memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
