Jody Housman Obituary

Jody Lyn Housman, 63, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. Jody was born in Raritan, NJ, to Jo Anne Kotch and raised by her grandmother, Beatrice Apgar. She raised her two children, Micheal and Jaimy in Washington, NJ prior to moving the family to Massachusetts in 1994. She purchased her dream home in Malden, MA where she resided for 22 years.
Jody was the heart of her family. As a single mother, she worked tirelessly to put herself through college to ensure her children had every opportunity for success. She regularly traveled home to New Jersey to be the loudest cheerleader for her nieces and nephews at academic and sporting events, the comforting supporter for an ill parent, or the creative party planner for countless events.

Throughout her career in Information Technology, regardless of her position or title, Jody's proudest accomplishments were building her teams. From overflowing swear jars to HR "shushed" lunch tables, her personality and wry sense of humor were infectious.

Jody had a passion for trying new things and could often be found in a classroom learning anything from glass blowing to curling. As with many in her family, Jody enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen. She loved brainstorming with her daughter each holiday season for the Christmas cookie list, a goodie bag filled with 20 or more delicious creations. If you were lucky enough to make the Christmas Cookie list, you were a cherished friend. She passed her joy of cooking on to her son, be careful of his chili if you can't handle the heat.

An avid traveler, Jody could often be found googling her next adventure. From Hawaii to Alaska, Ireland to Sri Lanka, there was always a new destination to be explored and memories to be created. When not traveling, Jody could be found happily covered in dirt in her garden.

Jody will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.  She leaves behind her son Micheal and daughter Jaimy; brothers Ronald (Cheryl), Jessee (Lisa), Troy (Cheryl) and "sisser" Kelly; grandchildren Devin and Kasey; nephews and niece Logan, Finn, Evan, and Erin; as well as aunts and cousins whom she loved dearly.

We look forward to everyone sharing their memories at a celebration of Jody’s life to be planned at a later date.
