MARTINEZ, Jose Antonio  In East Boston, August 15, 2025.  Beloved husband of Donatella (Chinchilla).  Loving father of Antonia, Anthony, Marco, Dennis. Sheila, Evelyn, Julia, Ramon, Jasmine and Benito. Grandfather of ten and great-grandfather of three.

Son of the late Vincenta Ortega and Benito Martinez.  Brother of Carmen and the late Norma, Evelyn, and Benito. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was previously married to Elaina Ledo Reis.

Visitation 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM will be held in the Most Holy Redeemer Church, 72 Maverick St., East Boston on Friday, August 22, 2025. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden

Jose was born in Vega Vaja, Puerto Rico on November 27, 1949 and came with his family to Massachusetts at the age of 12.  They lived in Stoneham and the South End before he settled his own family in East Boston over 25 years ago.

Jose had many interests including photography, Caribbean music, cars, and gardening. He self-educated himself in a wide variety of subjects, so even though he never got to further his formal education he was very well- versed on many issues and a very hard worker.  Jose worked at NECCO Candy Co. for over 40 years until his well-earned retirement, when he finally got to enjoy all the hobbies he had nurtured over the years.
