GIACALONE, Maria (Gerardi) In East Boston, formerly of Marsala, Sicily on May 26, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Angelo Giacalone.
Loving mother of Connie and her husband Edward Deveau, John Giacalone, David Giacalone and his wife Diane, Marina Smith and her fiance Jim Immel, Paul Giacalone and his wife Melissa and James Giacalone.
Grandmother of Edward, Michelle and the late Kenneth Deveau, Christen McCarthy, Marc, Eric and Vanessa Smith, Zachary, Jake, Ella and Devin Giacalone.
Sister of Nino, Cosimo, Giuseppe, Frank and the late Vincenzo Gerardi and Rosa Leone.
Maria is also survived by three generations of extended family in both the United States and Italy.
Visiting hours in the Magrath Funeral Home, 336 Chelsea St. [at Day Sq] EAST BOSTON on Tuesday, June 1, 4 - 8 pm. Relatives and friends invited. The family requests that all attendees wear masks in the funeral home.
Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, 45 Brooks St., East Boston on Wednesday, June 2, at 10 o'clock. (Please go directly to church)
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett
Maria came to East Boston from Sicily in 1962 and became a United States citizen in 1966. She raised her family in East Boston and also worked as a seamstress for Omega Sports Equipment. She spent many hours sewing clothes for her children and cooking fabulous meals.
